Currently jamming to The Holdup's new EP, B-Sides.
Updated: Sep 21, 2020
Earlier this year The Holdup released a full-length album, Killing Time. It featured 20 tracks, some previously released and some new ones. But before the year is over The Holdup, aka Mike Garmany, has blessed us with more new music. On August 20 the EP, B-Sides was released. It features two songs with two different vibes that give me all the feels.
“Standing by the Speaker” was co-written and co-produced by guitarist Grant Averill. It’s a funky upbeat tune. You can’t help but bob your head to it while it’s playing. It’s confident and sexy. Then the chorus kicks in nice and smooth. It almost makes me wish I had a boo to dance to this song on a Sunday afternoon while making breakfast in my underwear. Almost. For now, I'll happily dance to it alone.
Next on the EP, to round out the vibe and slow things down a bit is, “You All the Time”. This track is my favorite. It reminds me of that song “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer. You know the theme song, for the classic 90’s film “She’s All That”? Anyways, the song is a sweet romantic piece. When I heard the lyric “If you don’t want my heart, why can’t I let it be?”, I felt that in my soul. Deep.
Both songs were written, produced, mixed and mastered by Mike. Go stream B-Sides, you won’t regret it.
High Vibes Media got to sit down with Mike last year to talk about his music and career thus far, check it out on our YouTube channel.
